Terms and conditions

These terms apply to every bespoke commission, re-upholstery project and contract order that Movarix accepts. They are written in plain English wherever possible and they take precedence over anything said informally.

Effective date. 1 March 2026.

1. Who you are agreeing with

Your contract is with Movarix Atelier Holdings Limited, a private company limited by shares, registered in England and Wales (No. 08842301) with its workshop and registered office at 42 Hewett Street, Shoreditch, London EC2A 3NN, United Kingdom.

2. Quotation, drawings and deposit

Every project starts with a written quotation accompanied by scaled drawings and a fabric schedule. Quotations are valid for thirty days from issue. Two free revisions of the drawings are included; further revisions are billed at a fixed studio rate of £140 per hour. A 50% deposit is required to release production; the remaining 50% is invoiced on completion of the build, prior to delivery.

3. Lead time

The lead time printed on your quotation runs from the day your deposit and signed-off drawings are both received and your fabric arrives at the workshop. Where you supply your own fabric, lead time runs from receipt of fabric. We will tell you about any change to lead time within five working days of becoming aware of it.

4. Variations

If you wish to change a dimension, fabric, finish or detail after the deposit has been paid, please write to your project manager. Where production has not yet started, most variations are accommodated at cost. Where production has started, a written addendum will set out the price and time impact for your approval before work continues.

5. Delivery and access

White-glove delivery in mainland UK is included as standard for all bespoke pieces over £2,000 in value; smaller pieces and items below that threshold are quoted separately. Before despatch we will confirm doorway, stair and lift access in writing. Where access is later found to be insufficient, we will return the piece to the workshop and arrange a second delivery once the access issue is resolved; a re-delivery fee at cost may apply.

6. Inspection on delivery

Please inspect your piece on delivery and note any concern on the delivery sheet. We address any defect arising from our build at our cost; ordinary signs of handling, fabric variance within mill tolerance, and natural movement of leather are not defects. Concerns flagged within seven days of delivery are addressed without question.

7. Frame guarantee

We guarantee the frame of every Movarix piece for the lifetime of the original purchaser, under domestic use. If a frame fails, we will repair or replace it. The guarantee does not extend to commercial use unless your project is covered by a separate contract warranty.

8. Cushions and fabric

Cushions and fabric are wear items. Foam cores typically firm up over the first few weeks and soften gradually thereafter; feather wraps may need plumping daily. Fabric performance is governed by the supplier's published specification, which we are happy to share. Cleaning should follow the supplier's care guide; spilled liquids should be blotted, never rubbed.

9. Cancellation rights

For consumer commissions: because every Movarix piece is built to your specification, the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not apply once production has begun (regulation 28(1)(b)). Before production starts, you may cancel in writing for a full refund less any drawings work undertaken. For trade and contract orders, see clause 10.

10. Trade and contract orders

Trade orders run on a separate, briefer set of terms agreed at account opening. Contract orders for hospitality and commercial use carry a contract warranty in lieu of clause 7, with FR documentation, phased delivery scheduling and dilapidations excluded.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability under or in connection with a contract is limited to the value of that contract.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Consumer clients with the benefit of a more favourable mandatory law in their country of residence retain that benefit.

13. Talking to us

The fastest way to raise a concern is by email to [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge any complaint within two working days and resolve it in writing within fourteen.
